The Italian subsidiary of the rolling mill and plant builder SMS group has placed an order with Austria’s BRAUN Maschinenfabrik GmbH for a combined abrasive cut-off and friction sawing machine, type TSFS 12 FP for their customer MEGASIDER Zaragoza, part of the Spanish Megasider group. The existing rolling mill will be replaced and will produce in the future a wide range of merchant bars.

BRAUN’s high-performance cutting facility can be operated as abrasive cut-machine with 1 270 mm cutting wheels or as friction saw with 1 050 mm metallic saw blades for warm or cold cutting of 1 600 mm wide layers of round bars, equal angels, UPN-, IPE- and IPN-channels as well as flat material.

The combination of abrasive cutting, and friction sawing gives MEGASIDER the flexibility to cost-effectively cut their complete product range with one type of machine only.

The machines and all associated key equipment will be assembled and extensively tested at BRAUN in Vöcklabruck, Austria before shipping in October 2023.

Supervision of on-site installation, commissioning and performance test shall be completed within the first quarter of 2024.
